IndiGo fined ₹20 lakh for using unapproved simulators in pilot training at complex airports, with an appeal pending.
India’s aviation regulator, the DGCA, fined IndiGo ₹20 lakh ($22,500) for using non-qualified simulators in pilot training at Category C airports, which require specialized equipment for complex operations.
The penalty, issued September 26, 2025, stems from training approximately 1,700 pilots on uncertified Full Flight Simulators.
IndiGo, which owns the airline, is appealing the decision and stated the fine won’t impact its finances or operations.
The airline cited internal communication delays for the delayed public disclosure.
This follows previous regulatory actions, including a ₹30 lakh fine in 2023.
The incident highlights ongoing scrutiny of pilot training standards as India’s domestic air traffic grows.
