A former Australian pilot faces murder charges in his wife’s death, accused of faking a lawn mower accident and sending her messages post-mortem.
Robert John Crawford, a former Royal Australian Air Force pilot, appeared in Ipswich Magistrates Court facing charges in connection with the death of his wife, Frances Elizabeth Crawford, whose body was found at their rural Queensland home on July 30, 2024.
Authorities allege he staged the scene to look like a lawn mower accident and sent messages from her phone after her death.
Crawford, who had been suspended from the RAAF and sought reinstatement before leaving the service, was granted bail with strict conditions.
The prosecution presented 183 statements, including testimony from a forensic pathologist, and two witnesses were set to testify during the committal hearing to determine if he will stand trial.
