The officials allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹30,000—down from two months’ salary—to release the man’s frozen salary, which had been withheld for 10 months. The CBI conducted a sting operation, catching the Assistant Branch Postmaster red-handed. Subsequent arrests occurred in Shillong and Ambassa, Tripura, with searches uncovering ₹2.3 lakh in cash and incriminating documents. The accused are set to appear in court, and the investigation continues.
