Students planted trees in Ontario to honor a doctor’s legacy and combat ash borer damage.
Students from Eamer’s Corners Public School planted trees at the Ghambhir Memorial Urban Forest in Cornwall on October 3, 2025, continuing a decade-long tradition started in 2015.
The event, led by the Raisin Region Conservation Authority, aimed to restore trees lost to the emerald ash borer and improve air quality.
Since 2012, over 1,000 trees have been planted on the protected site, inspired by Dr. Indu Ghambhir’s vision to support children’s respiratory health through expanded green space.
The annual activity includes planting and nature walks, fostering environmental stewardship among participants.
