South Africa’s prosecutors oppose Vusimuzi Matlala’s appeal against bail denial in an attempted murder case tied to an attack on actress Tebogo Thobejane.

The National Prosecuting Authority will oppose Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala’s appeal against his bail denial in a case involving attempted murder and conspiracy related to an attack on his ex-girlfriend, actress Tebogo Thobejane. The case, which remains in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court, is set to be postponed to November 11 as the state seeks to centralize additional charges from Pretoria and Lyttelton, pending approval from the national director of public prosecutions. Matlala, accused of leading a criminal network linked to drug trafficking and contract killings, remains in custody, while two co-accused are out on bail.
