Singaporean actor Aaron Aziz sues after edited video falsely claimed he opposed Gaza flotilla, causing backlash and emotional harm.
Malaysian-based Singaporean actor Aaron Aziz is taking legal action after an edited video falsely portrayed him opposing the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla, sparking online backlash and cyberbullying.
The clip, shared by Malaysian content creator Sharina Richie in early October, misrepresented his comments from a September 19 interview.
Aziz, who denied opposing the mission, released the full unedited interview to clarify his support for Gaza.
His family, including wife Diyana Halik and their three children, reported emotional distress, with Aziz described as deeply affected.
Despite Sharina’s apology, Aziz’s legal team, led by Mahmud Jumaat at Emir Mahmud & Co., stated the edit was deliberate and malicious, constituting defamation.
The case highlights the harms of manipulated content and the need for accountability.
