Pennsylvania proposes Aiden’s Law, a Purple Alert for missing persons with disabilities, after a 7-year-old autistic boy drowned.
Pennsylvania State Representative Robert Leadbeter has introduced Aiden’s Law, proposing a Purple Alert system to quickly notify the public and law enforcement when individuals with cognitive, intellectual, or developmental disabilities go missing, following the drowning death of 7-year-old nonverbal autistic boy Aiden Ha in Bloomsburg. The alert would function similarly to Amber, Silver, and Green Alerts. The initiative gained traction after a local resident shared a call to action on Facebook. The bill will now be reviewed by a House committee. A GoFundMe has been launched to cover funeral expenses.
