Oxfordshire County Council is launching a temporary congestion charge in Oxford starting October 29, charging £5 daily for vehicles without permits on six roads.
To encourage public transit use, free bus travel on Stagecoach and Oxford Bus Company services is available for up to two adults and three children with a valid park and ride parking ticket for the first three months.
The charge, delayed due to Botley Road closures, aims to reduce traffic, improve bus services, and support local businesses ahead of Christmas.
Exemptions apply to permit holders, traders, carers, and blue badge holders.
However, 74% of public consultation respondents expressed concern, and only households within 10 to 15 miles of Oxford will receive informational leaflets, potentially excluding residents in nearby towns.
