Nigeria unveils plan to combat synthetic drugs, dark-web trafficking, and illicit finance.
Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), head of Nigeria’s NDLEA, said the upcoming National Drug Control Master Plan (2026–2030) must tackle rising threats like synthetic drugs, dark-web trafficking, poly-substance use, and illicit financial flows. Speaking at a five-day workshop in Niger State, funded by ECOWAS and backed by UNODC, he stressed the need for a forward-looking, coordinated strategy aligned with international standards. The event brought together government, health, law enforcement, and international experts to review progress, identify gaps, and shape a unified, evidence-based approach to drug control across Nigeria and the West African region.
