New Zealand has created a permanent Aviation Council with 14 members from government, industry, and regional airlines to guide the nation’s aviation future.
Announced by Associate Transport Minister James Meager, the council will advance initiatives from the Aviation Action Plan, focusing on economic growth, safety, workforce shortages, and infrastructure.
It will report annually and update the plan every three years, ensuring input from major carriers, regulators, and the $2.5 billion advanced aviation and space sector.
The council includes representation for smaller airlines and acknowledges past advocacy by regional carriers like Air Ruatoria.
