Ineos is cutting 60 jobs at its Hull plant due to high energy costs and cheap, high-emission Chinese imports blocked in the U.S.
Ineos is cutting 60 jobs at its Hull acetyls plant, citing rising energy costs and cheap, coal-based Chinese imports flooding Europe after being blocked from the U.S. by tariffs.

Ineos warns that without government action, including potential tariffs, more chemical plants could close and thousands of jobs may be lost.
The move follows previous closures at its Grangemouth refinery and two German plants.
CEO David Brooks called the decision unavoidable despite the site’s efficiency and skilled workforce, urging the UK and EU to protect environmentally responsible manufacturing.
