India probes Adani Defence over $9M tax evasion via misclassified missile parts.
Indian authorities are investigating Adani Defence Systems over allegations of evading $9 million in import taxes by misclassifying short-range missile parts as exempt long-range components.
The probe, led by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence since March, involves parts worth 770 million rupees imported from Russia, Israel, and Canada.
Adani Group says it provided documents and considers the matter closed without confirming payments or admitting fault.
Under Indian law, the company could face repayment plus a 100% penalty, totaling $18 million.
The case is separate from prior probes into the Adani Group and concerns actions under pre-September 2025 regulations, when tariff exemptions for missile parts were expanded.
Samsung and Volkswagen are also facing similar import tax issues.
