India allocates over Rs 1.6 crore from NDRF for flood recovery in Assam and Gujarat and fire service upgrades in three states.
The Indian central government, through a high-level committee led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has approved an additional Rs 707.97 crore from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for Assam and Gujarat to aid recovery from 2024 floods and landslides, with Assam receiving Rs 313.69 crore and Gujarat Rs 394.28 crore, after a 50% adjustment from each state’s State Disaster Response Fund.
The committee also approved Rs 903.67 crore for modernizing fire services in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, with Rs 676.33 crore from the NDRF.
These funds are part of broader 2025-26 financial year disbursements totaling over Rs 13,600 crore under SDRF and Rs 2,024 crore under NDRF, along with additional mitigation fund allocations.
