Governor Parnaik promotes oil palm expansion in Arunachal Pradesh, targeting 35,723 hectares by 2025–26 to boost rural incomes and reduce import dependence.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen. KT Parnaik visited an oil palm farm in Pasighat, highlighting the state’s expansion of oil palm cultivation to 4,690 hectares benefiting nearly 2,000 farmers, with a target of 35,723 hectares by 2025–26.
He emphasized the crop’s role in boosting rural incomes, reducing India’s edible oil imports, and supporting agro-industrial growth, citing favorable climate and soil.
Infrastructure developments include a crude palm oil mill at Roing and a factory at Niglok.
The governor also inaugurated a psychosocial center and human performance lab at Rashtriya Raksha University and laid the foundation for a Centre of Excellence for drug testing, warning of rising cyber threats and extremism.
