Bridget Sullivan, a former Wake Forest University athletic trainer, has sued North Carolina Representative Pat Harrigan for libel, claiming he falsely stated she was fired over a social media post referencing Charlie Kirk’s death.
The post, which included lyrics from "Chicago," led to online backlash and threats, but Sullivan and the university mutually agreed to part ways.
Harrigan’s September 16 social media post, viewed over 874,000 times, misrepresented her departure and amplified the controversy, according to the lawsuit.
Sullivan alleges the false claim damaged her reputation, caused emotional distress, and exposed her to threats, seeking $75,000 in damages.
