Former Ghanaian Auditor-General Daniel Yao Domelevo alleges forged evidence led to Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo’s 2025 removal.
Former Ghanaian Auditor-General Daniel Yao Domelevo accused former Attorney General Ayikoi Otoo of submitting a forged appointment letter during the 2025 inquiry that led to Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo’s removal.
Domelevo, a committee member under Article 149 of Ghana’s constitution, claimed the document, allegedly signed by the Judicial Secretary, was inauthentic and undermined the integrity of the proceedings.
He denied ignoring valid evidence, asserting the committee found Torkornoo guilty of misappropriating funds.
Otoo had argued the committee failed to consider the judiciary’s travel policy, which he said authorized her family’s trips.
President John Mahama removed Torkornoo in September 2025, citing a prima facie case, and nominated Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as her successor.
Public reactions have largely supported Domelevo, praising his stance on accountability.
