Chinese teenager Shang Juncheng, ranked No 215, stunned world No 10 Karen Khachanov in straight sets at the Rolex Shanghai Masters, securing his first top-10 win since turning pro and reaching the third round of an ATP 1000 tournament for the first time.
The 19-year-old, who overcame a nearly six-month injury layoff from a foot fracture sustained at the Australian Open, became the youngest Chinese man to reach that stage in Masters history.
His victory, fueled by mental resilience and family support, earned him 50 ATP points and at least $60,400.
Shang now faces Portugal’s Nuno Borges in the round of 32, aiming to build on his resurgence at the season’s final high-level event.
