A British Columbia lawyer, Rogelio "Butch" Bagabuyo, has admitted to killing his client, Mohd Abdullah, in March 2022, but claims it was manslaughter, not first-degree murder. Prosecutors allege Bagabuyo, who had power of attorney and was executor of Abdullah’s estate, killed him to hide fraud involving funds entrusted during a separation. Evidence includes a homemade garrote, a tote bin used to conceal the body, and a decoy bin filled with documents. The body was discovered on March 18, 2022, after Bagabuyo enlisted a neighbor’s help to dispose of the bin. The trial continues as the court evaluates whether the killing was premeditated.
