Brooks Houck appeals his 2024 life sentence in the 2015 disappearance of Crystal Rogers.
Brooks Houck, convicted in 2024 of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with evidence in the 2015 disappearance of Crystal Rogers, has filed an appeal of his life sentence on October 6, 2025.
His legal team challenges the trial judge’s refusal to recuse, the consolidation of trials with co-defendant Joseph Lawson, and several evidentiary rulings.
Rogers, a 35-year-old mother of five, was last seen on July 3, 2015, at Houck’s family farm; her car was found abandoned two days later.
Her body has never been recovered.
Joseph Lawson, also convicted, has filed a separate appeal.
The appeals are pending.
