Adam Lopez, a 39-year-old construction worker from Norwich, won £1 million in July 2025 after buying a scratchcard, increasing his bank balance from £12.40 to over £1 million. He quit his job and spent months partying intensely, leading to a hospitalization on September 10 with a life-threatening bilateral pulmonary embolism caused by a blood clot from his leg. After eight and a half days in Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, he described the experience as a wake-up call, regretting the loss of routine and excessive lifestyle. He now focuses on recovery, expecting to regain health within six to nine months, and emphasizes that wealth offers no protection against serious health crises.
