Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF celebrates 75 years, urging families to raise funds for global children’s aid during Halloween.
Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is marking its 75th anniversary with a nationwide campaign urging families to turn Halloween into a force for good.
Since its 1950 start in Philadelphia, when children raised $17 in milk cartons to aid war-affected Europe, the program has grown into a tradition where millions of kids collect donations in orange boxes during trick-or-treating.
Over the decades, participants have raised nearly $200 million to support UNICEF’s global efforts, providing clean water, vaccinations, education, emergency relief, and nutrition in 157 countries.
Donations fund rapid-response aid, often delivered within 24 hours of a crisis, with each dollar helping supply essentials like 30 pencils, two bars of soap, a year of safe water, or five measles vaccinations.
Families can get involved through online fundraisers and community activities.
