Thirteen dogs and cats were rescued from a hoarding apartment in Vista, California, and are now receiving medical care.
Thirteen pets—11 dogs and two cats—were rescued from a Vista apartment after a four-day operation by San Diego Humane Society and sheriff’s deputies.
Found in hoarding conditions with trash piled floor to ceiling, the small dogs, mostly Pomeranians and Chihuahuas, had fleas, skin issues, and overgrown nails.
They are now receiving medical care and emergency boarding at the Oceanside campus as officials continue monitoring the property.
The rescue adds to the Humane Society’s record dog intake of 792.
Adoption fees are reduced to $50 through October 15 as part of a national campaign.
