Former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has raised over $14 million in the latest quarter for his U.S. Senate campaign, with $10.8 million in his account and $3.7 million through Democratic joint fundraising committees.
He is running to succeed Republican Senator Thom Tillis, who announced in June he won’t seek re-election.
Cooper’s campaign cites strong grassroots support, calling the effort “people-powered.” Republican Michael Whatley, RNC chair, has entered the race and received a public endorsement from former President Donald Trump, raising nearly $6 million since launching in late July.
