A Queensland man sentenced to 10 months for speeding at 250+ km/h in a stolen Jeep during a police chase.
A 28-year-old Queensland man, Dallas Black, was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a five-month non-parole period for driving a stolen Jeep Cherokee at over 250 km/h during a police pursuit on the Pacific Highway in August 2025.
The vehicle, stolen on August 12, was spotted speeding at 140–150 km/h before accelerating beyond 250 km/h during the chase, which ended at Telegraph Point due to safety risks.
Black was later arrested in Wauchope after the vehicle nearly hit a police car.
He admitted to driving and had a history of drug use and traffic offenses.
Magistrate Georgina Darcy cited the extreme danger to the public, especially during rush hour, and noted his past offenses diminished his credibility.
Black, who expressed remorse and had job prospects, was disqualified from holding a driver’s licence for two years.
The sentence is backdated to his August 13 arrest, with release set for January 12, 2026.
