Ola Electric gains Indian govt approval for rare-earth-free motors, boosting EV affordability and sustainability.
Ola Electric has become India’s first two-wheeler EV manufacturer to receive government certification for its in-house rare-earth-free ferrite motor, approved by the Global Automotive Research Centre in Tamil Nadu under AIS 041 standards.
The motor, tested for 7kW and 11kW variants, matches the performance, efficiency, and durability of traditional rare-earth motors while cutting costs and reducing reliance on imported materials.
First unveiled at Sankalp 2025 in August, the technology will now be integrated across Ola’s vehicle lineup to boost affordability, sustainability, and supply chain resilience for Indian consumers.
