Nokia and South Africa’s fibertime launch on Oct. 6, 2025, to bring fiber broadband to 400,000 underserved homes using Nokia’s tech.
Nokia has partnered with South Africa’s fibertime to expand fiber broadband to 400,000 additional underserved households by 2028, part of a broader goal to connect 2 million homes.
The project, launching on October 6, 2025, uses Nokia’s IP and fiber technologies, including Lightspan, Wi-Fi 6, and the 7750 Wireless Access Gateway, to deliver affordable, unlimited internet at about 5 rand per day with no contracts.
Network automation tools like Altiplano and the Fiber Health Analyzer will improve reliability and scalability, enabling rapid deployment of semi-mobile networks across townships.
