Nano One pre-qualifies Argentine lithium from Rio Tinto for its LFP cathode process, boosting secure, local supply chains.

Nano One has pre-qualified lithium carbonate from Rio Tinto’s Fenix and Olaroz sites in Argentina, along with samples from its Rincon project, for use in its One-Pot™ LFP cathode production process, advancing its technology licensing strategy. The move supports the development of secure, diversified, and localized LFP supply chains, reducing risks and accelerating commercial deployment for potential licensees. Nano One’s staged qualification process, progressing from kilogram-scale to tonne-scale testing, helps de-risk supply chains and may shorten qualification timelines by up to a year. The collaboration aligns with broader goals of enhancing energy security, supply chain resilience, and sustainable battery manufacturing. The company, piloting production in Quebec, has secured support from governments in Canada, the U.S., and provincial jurisdictions, and maintains strategic alliances with Rio Tinto, Sumitomo Metal Mining, and Worley.
