Ireland's Labour Party proposes a child-focused budget with free healthcare, childcare, and housing support, funded by taxes on energy firms and data centers.
Ireland's Labour Party has launched an alternative "children's budget" proposing free GP care for all children under 18, phased over two years, and eliminating the means test for Carer’s Allowance.
The plan includes creating 6,000 new childcare spots, capping weekly childcare costs at 50 euros, and introducing a 770 million euro child benefit for struggling families.
Funded through sustainable taxes, including a windfall tax on energy firms and data centers, the proposal also calls for 6,000 new social homes, retrofitting homes for energy efficiency, and raising the vacant homes tax to ten times the Local Property Tax.
The party criticizes current housing policies for inflating prices and stresses that children, families, and climate action should take priority over tax cuts.
El Partido Laborista de Irlanda propone un presupuesto centrado en los niños con atención médica gratuita, cuidado infantil y apoyo a la vivienda, financiado con impuestos a las empresas de energía y centros de datos.
