Ireland’s BreastCheck program urges women in Donegal and Dublin to get free mammograms every two years starting at age 50.
BreastCheck, Ireland’s free national breast screening programme, is urging women in Donegal and Dublin to attend their first mammogram, offering screenings every two years to women aged 50 to 69 via mobile units and permanent clinics.
The programme, which detects early breast cancer before symptoms appear, has a 72% uptake rate and is expanding to meet demand.
Most women receive normal results, but about one in 20 are called back for further tests, with seven in 50 eventually receiving treatment.
The service provides accommodations for disabilities and language needs, and women can manage appointments through the HSE Health App.
Those with symptoms should see their GP, not attend screening.
El programa BreastCheck de Irlanda insta a las mujeres de Donegal y Dublín a someterse a mamografías gratuitas cada dos años a partir de los 50 años.
