Former NFL QB Mark Sanchez stabbed in Indy alley fight over blocked driveway; charged with battery and intoxication.
Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez, 38, was stabbed multiple times in a downtown Indianapolis alley early Saturday during a confrontation with a 69-year-old truck driver, police say. The incident, captured on video, occurred after Sanchez, reportedly intoxicated, argued with the driver over a vehicle blocking a hotel loading dock. Authorities say Sanchez became aggressive, threw the driver to the ground, and attempted to enter the truck. The driver used a knife in self-defense, resulting in Sanchez sustaining stab wounds to his upper torso. He was hospitalized in stable condition and later charged with battery resulting in injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication. The driver suffered a cheek laceration. Sanchez, who was in Indianapolis to broadcast an NFL game for Fox Sports, was replaced and has not been booked into jail. A court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
