Dacia launches the €15,000 Hipster EV concept to offer ultra-affordable electric commuting in Europe.
Dacia has unveiled the Hipster Concept, a compact electric vehicle designed to compete with low-cost Chinese EVs, with a target price under €15,000 ($17,625).
Measuring 3 meters long and weighing under 800 kg, the car features a minimalist design with canvas seats, manual windows, and door straps to reduce costs.
It has a 150 km range and 90 km/h top speed, intended for urban commuting.
Dacia’s CEO says the company is ready to mass-produce if the European Union approves a new small car category inspired by Japan’s Kei Cars, which would allow fewer safety requirements and lower production costs.
The move aims to address a 63% rise in average car prices since 2001 and promote affordable electric mobility in Europe.
