Bihar's chief minister paid ₹10,000 to 2.1 million women under a new empowerment scheme, with more payments to follow.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar disbursed the third installment of ₹10,000 to 21 lakh women under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, bringing total beneficiaries to 1.21 crore since the scheme’s August 2025 launch.
Funds were transferred via Direct Benefit Transfer to bank accounts, with the next payment scheduled for October 6, 2025, and future disbursements set to continue weekly through December.
The initiative, part of a broader women’s empowerment drive, includes 50% reservation in local bodies and 35% in jobs, and offers up to ₹2 lakh in additional support for successful entrepreneurs.
On the same day, Kumar inaugurated 264 energy projects worth ₹5,847.66 crore to improve electricity infrastructure.
