Albany Graphite Corp. confirms its high-purity graphite meets nuclear standards, suitable for advanced reactors.
Albany Graphite Corp., a Zentek Ltd. subsidiary, has confirmed its ultra-high purity Albany graphite meets or exceeds nuclear industry standards, according to testing funded by the Critical Minerals Innovation Fund and conducted with American Energy Technologies Company. The graphite demonstrated proper particle size distribution, high compact density, low elastic expansion, and low electrical resistivity, indicating strong structural stability and conductivity essential for pebble-bed reactors. It achieved 5N+ purity (99.9992 wt.% carbon) with an equivalent boron concentration of 2.60 ppm—below the 3 ppm nuclear threshold—confirming low contamination. The material also met industry benchmarks for coefficient of friction, supporting durability. These results support its potential use in advanced nuclear energy systems.
