A 67-year-old Melbourne Beach woman died Friday evening in a six-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hollywood and Eber boulevards in West Melbourne, Florida, after a 26-year-old man fleeing a prior hit-and-run ran a red light in a 2017 box truck.
The truck, traveling southbound, struck the left side of a 2021 Porsche Taycan driven by the woman, who was heading east, causing the truck to overturn and hit a curb, scattering debris that damaged several vehicles.
The woman was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead.
The truck driver sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.
Authorities confirmed the driver was evading police following a prior hit-and-run and charges are pending as the case remains an active criminal investigation.
