Vedanta plans a ₹13,226 crore expansion to boost India’s aluminium output to 3.1 million tonnes by 2028.
Vedanta Ltd, led by Anil Agarwal, plans to invest ₹13,226 crore to expand its aluminium production to 3.1 million tonnes per year by 2028, up from 2.4 million tonnes, with interim targets of 2.75 million tonnes by 2026.
The company, India’s largest aluminium producer with over 50% market share, aims to boost group EBITDA to $8–10 billion by 2028, driven by its fully captive operations that have cut costs by 24% over 11 quarters.
The expansion supports rising domestic demand fueled by government initiatives like 'Make in India', 'Housing for All', and infrastructure growth, as well as global trends in electric mobility and renewable energy.
