Two teens arrested in Boston after crowd attacked police cars with fireworks and debris, setting one ablaze.
Two men, Julian Bowers, 18, and William Cantwell, 19, were arrested in Boston’s South End on October 5, 2025, after a crowd of about 100 people attacked police cruisers with fireworks, cones, and poles, blocking traffic at Mass Avenue and Tremont Street around 2:12 a.m. One cruiser was set on fire, destroyed, and towed; officers were endangered when individuals jumped on its hood.
Bowers faces charges including assault on a police officer and malicious destruction of property over $1,200.
Cantwell was charged with similar offenses plus possession of marijuana edibles found in his bag.
Both are expected to appear in Roxbury District Court.
Detectives continue investigating, urging the public to provide information.
