flag Tripura’s Durga Puja ended with a carnival, idol procession, and tribute to military operations, amid heightened security and rising community participation.

Tripura’s capital Agartala concluded its five-day Durga Puja festival with the fourth annual Mayer Gaman carnival, featuring cultural performances from across India and a procession of over 42 community Durga idols paraded through the city before immersion in the Howrah River. The event highlighted both traditional and contemporary themes, including a tribute to India’s military operation in Pahalgam. Chief Minister Manik Saha praised the peaceful celebration, noting a rise in community pujas to around 3,000—up from 2,750 in 2024—with strong participation in West Tripura. Over 8,000 security personnel, including women officers and plainclothes staff, were deployed, supported by enhanced surveillance and border vigilance. The state plans to honor top puja organizers and clubs in an upcoming awards event.
