President Marcos urges strong evidence in corruption probes to ensure justice and public trust.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. stressed the need for strong, credible evidence in corruption probes, particularly involving infrastructure projects, warning that weak cases could lead to failed prosecutions and erode public trust. Speaking in a podcast preview, he emphasized due process and cautioned against rushing charges, even as the newly formed Independent Commission for Infrastructure investigates alleged irregularities in DPWH flood control projects. The probe follows his public criticism of ghost and substandard projects and the launch of the Sumbong sa Pangulo reporting platform. Former officials have made serious allegations, including large cash payments to lawmakers, while the Senate’s blue ribbon committee paused its inquiry. Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has filed graft complaints and suspended 16 DPWH personnel. Marcos reiterated that only well-documented cases should proceed to court to ensure legitimacy and justice.
