Police in Trinidad and Tobago arrested a 13-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man on October 4, 2025, after they attempted to smuggle contraband into Arouca Maximum Security Prison using a drone.
The suspects fled through dense vegetation and jumped a 25-foot embankment in Bon Air, where officers recovered 1,050 grams of cannabis, 256 packs of cigarettes, 15 cell phones, electronic devices, a drone with its controller and 16 batteries, and other items.
One suspect was injured during the escape.
This marks the second drone smuggling attempt foiled in less than a week.
Authorities, operating under a State of Emergency, continue to combat organized crime networks exploiting prisons, with investigations ongoing.
