On September 27, over 350 people completed the Great Big Walk for Herts, raising more than £120,000 for children’s and youth charities across the county.
The event, organized by Helping Herts, followed nearly the entire Hertfordshire Way footpath and included participants from ages 11 to 83, representing residents, community groups, and corporate teams like BearingNet, Lupa Foods, NFU Mutual St Albans, LemonadeHR, and Brocket Hall.
Funds, enhanced by Gift Aid and match contributions, will support 12 charity partners aiding young carers, children with disabilities, families in hardship, and homeless youth.
Co-founder Jim Tatchell called it the organization’s largest event yet, commending the community’s generosity and spirit.
Volunteers from Friends of the Hertfordshire Way assisted with navigation.
