Nigeria’s science minister faces scrutiny over forged degrees and NYSC certificate, with university officials denying his claims.
Uche Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, is under scrutiny for allegedly forging academic and service credentials.
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has confirmed he was admitted in 1981 but never graduated, with no record of a 1985 degree or inclusion in the convocation list.
A forensic review of his NYSC certificate revealed inconsistencies, including a signature from a director who served later and outdated formatting.
UNN’s Vice-Chancellor stated the certificate was not issued to him, contradicting a 2023 letter from the registrar that was later recanted.
Despite these findings, Nnaji has not publicly responded, and his office continues to defend the authenticity of his records, accusing critics of politically motivated attacks.
