A new 300-meter bridge on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai has opened, cutting travel time to the Mall of the Emirates from 10 minutes to just one minute for drivers from Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali.
The bridge, part of a larger 2.5-kilometer upgrade, handles 900 vehicles per hour and includes road widenings, upgraded intersections, pedestrian walkways, cycling paths, and a shift to two-way traffic near the Kempinski hotel.
The project, led by the Roads and Transport Authority and Majid Al Futtaim Properties, aims to reduce congestion and improve safety.
It supports the mall’s Dh5 billion redevelopment, which adds retail, dining, and cultural spaces.
Public transport usage in Dubai rose 9% in early 2025, with over 395 million trips recorded, reflecting growing confidence in the system.
