A man was rescued from Lake Michigan after drifting a mile offshore and was treated for dehydration, exhaustion, and hypothermia.
A 37-year-old Racine man was rescued from Lake Michigan on October 3 after drifting nearly a mile offshore on a swimming tube, pulled by strong currents around 3:30 p.m. Officials responded at 6:40 p.m., using boats, jet skis, and thermal imaging to locate him about a mile north and nearly a mile out from North Beach.
He was found floating, suffering from dehydration, exhaustion, and hypothermia, and had no means to call for help.
After being brought ashore, he was evaluated by paramedics.
