A man was rescued from Scafell Pike, England’s highest peak, on September 30 after becoming exhausted and suffering cramps during his descent, with the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team responding to a call from the North West Ambulance Service.
The lone hiker, possibly disoriented in misty conditions, was found near Brown Tongue and safely carried down on a stretcher, with the operation concluding just after midnight.
On October 2, a separate incident saw four lost walkers guided down the mountain by an MRT guide after being reported missing by Cumbria Police; they were located near Gavel Neese and safely led back to their vehicle by 4 a.m.
Both rescues underscore the dangers of hiking in challenging weather and terrain, especially for inexperienced or solo hikers.
