A man fled police, causing a crash that killed retired educator Catherine Sallows; he now faces murder charges.
Catherine Sallows, a 67-year-old retired principal and educator, died eight days after a two-vehicle crash in downtown London on Sept. 10, 2025, which occurred when a 44-year-old Manitoulin Island man, Randy Dale Jones, allegedly fled police during a traffic stop.
Jones, arrested in Thunder Bay on separate charges including dangerous driving and fleeing police, now faces upgraded charges in connection with Sallows’ death, including dangerous driving causing death and leaving the scene of an accident causing death.
Sallows, a 29-year veteran of education, was seriously injured along with her husband and another passenger.
The Special Investigations Unit is investigating the incident, and Jones remains in custody pending a court appearance.
A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
