Kolkata’s Red Road Carnival on Oct. 5, 2025, closes roads, adds metro trains, and features 113 puja groups in a cultural celebration marking Durga Puja’s end.
Kolkata is set to host its annual Red Road Immersion Carnival on October 5, 2025, marking the end of Durga Puja with 113 award-winning puja committees parading along the city’s iconic Red Road.
Organized by the West Bengal Tourism Department, the event features floats, music, dance, and cultural performances, drawing thousands and international guests.
To ensure safety, Kolkata Police will close Red Road and surrounding areas to vehicles from 2 pm, with earlier closures starting at midnight, and enforce parking bans.
The Kolkata Metro will run six additional late-night trains—three in each direction—on the Blue and Green Lines, spaced 20 minutes apart, to manage crowds.
This year’s carnival, which began in 2016 and resumed after pandemic pauses, continues to highlight Kolkata’s vibrant cultural traditions.
