Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have launched an anti-narcotics operation in South Kashmir, destroying about 350 kanals of wild cannabis along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The drive follows a July raid by the NCB in Bijbehara that uncovered 39 kilograms of poppy straw and led to the arrest of two men, one a former militant with past terror charges and the other a repeat narcotics offender. Officials say the operation disrupted a network involved in cultivating and smuggling drugs across state lines.
