Arunachal Pradesh will launch its first commercial coal mine at the Namchik-Namphuk block on October 6, 2025, with Union Minister G Kishan Reddy performing the Bhoomi Poojan and handing over the mining lease.
The project, revived after years of delays through a 2022 transparent auction, holds 1.5 crore tonnes of coal and is expected to generate over Rs 100 crore annually, create local jobs, and support India’s energy security and Atmanirbhar Bharat goals.
The mine aligns with the EAST vision and emphasizes sustainable development, ecological safeguards, and worker welfare, while also paving the way for critical mineral block auctions in the region.
