India funds Rs 4.95 crore semiconductor lab at IIT Bhubaneswar to boost chip design education and 'Make in India'.
The Indian government has approved the NaMo Semiconductor Laboratory at IIT Bhubaneswar with a Rs 4.95 crore budget from the MPLAD Scheme to boost semiconductor design skills and support 'Make in India' and 'Design in India'.
The lab, equipped with Rs 4.6 crore for tools and Rs 35 lakh for software, will train students in chip design, fabrication, and packaging, complementing existing research infrastructure and two new semiconductor projects in Odisha.
It aims to expand India’s growing talent pool, which already includes students from 295 universities and 28 successfully taped-out student-designed chips.
