A 24-hour fishing event raised £3,670 for a cancer support center despite tough conditions.
A 24-hour fishing event called the Fishathon at Pimlico Farm near Bicester raised £3,670 for the Hummingbird Cancer Support Centre in Launton.
Organized by Keith Harvey, who was inspired by his friend Graham Darby’s cancer journey and the centre’s support, five angler pairs aimed to raise £200 each, surpassing an initial £1,000 goal.
Despite low water levels from a dry summer limiting catches, strong community support—through donations from locals, freemasons, and friends—led to the successful fundraising.
The funds will help sustain vital services for cancer patients and their families.
